Burnout: understanding it before collapse

Burnout never happens overnight. It develops gradually, often unnoticed, until the mind and body can no longer cope. Contrary to common belief, it does not mainly affect the “weak”, but rather highly committed, responsible, and driven individuals.
Early signs are frequently dismissed: persistent fatigue, sleep disturbances, irritability, reduced concentration, physical tension, or emotional detachment. Because people can still function and perform, these symptoms are normalized. In reality, they are early warning signs of a deeper exhaustion.
In demanding professional environments, burnout is often mistaken for normal stress. Many wait until the situation becomes unbearable before seeking help. This delay comes at a high cost: longer recovery, extended sick leave, personal strain, and lasting loss of confidence.
Understanding burnout means recognizing that prevention is a form of responsibility. Seeking support early allows for assessment, reflection, and timely action—before exhaustion turns into crisis.
At Cabinet Vade, we believe that caring for mental health is not a reaction to failure, but a conscious decision to protect balance, clarity, and long-term wellbeing.
